We have been teaching several families now for 3 weeks, plus one missionary who left on Halloween. Four families are scheduled to attend Taiwan Temple during Christmas week. Taiwan is one of the few temples that stays open on Christmas Day.
Speaking of Halloween – Indians are just waking up to this unique American celebration. Many are suspicious of it, saying that it encourages “evil spirits”. We invited the Young Single Adults (18 – 30) to our apartment, so that they could see how we Americans celebrate the day before All Saints Day. The attached pictures will tell the story better than words.
One of our assigned duties is to inspect Elders and Sisters apartments around the city. This reminds us of those “good old days” when we were young and not so careful with taking care of laundry or cleaning the kitchen. Having said that – the Sisters (as you would expect) are very good at taking care of things. The Elders – we believe that we finally convinced them that their mothers don’t work here, so its up to them to maintain their living quarters. We teamed up with the zone leader to locate an apartment in the Anna Nagar district of Chennai. Both places were substandard, and the Mission did not decide to rent them. But — we took some great photos of the local culture in that area, so the day wasn’t a total loss.
Gibson is up to his usual nonsense – making fangs out of candy corns. We thought that sending him to India would make a mature man out of him.
